February Quest - Trustom Pond, 2/19

Trustom Pond Hike With Rhode Island Families in Nature

Monday, February 19th, 2018 @11:00 AM

1040 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, South Kingstown, RI

Trustom Pond’s views are well worth the visit, and the hiking trails are just as beautiful!

This hike is about 1 mile long and easy for children, and there is ample opportunity to extend your hike. The group will meet in the parking lot at 11:00am. Please note that the parking lot is quite small, so give yourself ample time to find a spot and ready yourself for our hike. Dress for the weather and bring plenty of snacks and water.

Also for this hike, an exciting opportunity!

You can earn 5,000 points at this hike through Roger William Park Zoo’s Nature SwapPlease bring a photo, drawing or journal page in from your hiking experience Trustom Pond into the Nature Swap, which is open Fridays, 12-4 and Saturdays 10-2.

Nature Play Grant:

For the fourth year in a row, the Roger Williams Park Zoo was one of the recipients of a Nature Play grant, which was developed by the Children & Nature Network (C&NN) and the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) through a special gift from the Disney Conservation Fund. This grant allows us to offer free nature based play experiences in various parks, playgrounds, preserves, and other properties that are off zoo grounds–but easy to get to!

If transportation support is needed, please contact Samantha Polon at (401) 785-3510 x353 for information about FREE RIPTA bus passes.

Each FNPD is also a Nature Swap “Quest” and allows participants to earn 5,000 bonus points in their accounts. Participants in the program bring in natural “found” items to collect points for swapping with items in their collection. To earn 5,000 points for this quest, bring a photo, drawing or natural item from your hike into the Nature Swap, located in Roger Williams Park Zoo’s Hasbro’s our Big Backyard, which is open Fridays 12-4 and Saturdays 10-2.
