July Quest with Rhode Island Families In Nature

Saturday, July 22, 2017
11:00am
151 Pulaski Road, Chepachet

Join Rhode Island Families in Nature to learn about and try to find some evidence of the beavers that live in and around Peck Pond. We will be walking about 1.5 miles together. We always love to go for a swim in Peck Pond afterwards. Lifeguards are on duty so bring your swim gear! Meet Jeanine next to the beach parking lot for tons of family fun.

Also for this hike, two exciting opportunities!

  • You can earn 5,000 points at this hike through the Zoo’s Nature Swap. Participants in the program bring in natural “found” items to collect points for swapping with items in their collection. Find out more information here.
  • This hike is part of the RI Great Outdoors Pursuit.  To play, print a Great Outdoors Pursuit passport and collect stickers at fun outdoor activities and challenges between May 20 and August 12. . Nature Play Grant:

For the third year in a row, the Roger Williams Park Zoo was one of the recipients of a Nature Play grant, which was developed by the Children & Nature Network (C&NN) and the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) through a special gift from the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. This grant allows us to offer free nature based play experiences in various parks, playgrounds, preserves, and other properties that are off zoo grounds–but easy to get to! If transportation support is needed, please contact Samantha Polon at (401) 785-3510 x353 for information about FREE RIPTA bus passes.

Each FNPD is also a Nature Swap “Quest” and allows participants to earn 5,000 bonus points in their accounts. Participants in the program bring in natural “found” items to collect points for swapping with items in their collection. To earn 5,000 points for this quest, bring a photo, drawing or natural item from your hike into the Nature Swap, located in Roger Williams Park Zoo’s Hasbro’s our Big Backyard, which is open 10-2, every day.
