Choose the bear that you think has what it takes to survive the winter and experience the crowning of the champion on October 8th. Fat Bear Week started in 2014 as a way to celebrate Katmai’s bears and the ecosystem that allows them to thrive. Bears feast on a banquet of Alaska wild salmon in one of the greatest salmon runs left on earth, which is made possible by the pristine waters that have their source in Katmai National Park and Preserve. Nearly 1.4 million votes were cast for the bears in 2023 from over a hundred countries.

All votes are cast at fatbearweek.org (see link below) in this March-madness style bracket competition in which bears compete daily in head-to-head matchups for the title of 2024 Fat Bear Week Champion. Voting for Fat Bear Week takes place October 2-8, 2024. The champion fat bear is crowned on October 8, 2024.
